Puttu


Making of puttu is not a big deal,yet i want to add :)


Ingredients:

  • Raw rice-1/4 kg
  • Grated coconut-1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Soak raw rice in water for 4 hrs.
  2. Drain the water.Dry the wet rice.Grind the rice in a mixer and make a coarse powder.Dont make it as very fine powder.
  3. Add this riceflour in a hot pan. Saute it for 5 minutes. Switch off the flame when steam starts to come from it. Cool it. Now puttu mavu is ready.
  4. Take rice powder in  a bowl. Sprinkle water, salt and some grated coconut over the rice powder and mix it using hand.Be careful while adding water. The flour should form shape if we press it in our hand but will not stick it your hand (Perfect combination yields to good taste). Now puttu mavu is ready.
  5. In a  puttukutti(puttu making vessel),add handful of grated coconut.Then add rice powder to half of it followed by grated coconut.
  6. Boil it in steam for 10 minutes.
Have it hot with your favourite side dish.

Tips:

  • Instead of making puttu powder you can use 1 cup of instant puttu powder available in market.
