Tandoori Chicken

This is my weekend special. Thanks to my hubby coz i learned this recipe from him.Ofcourse he is too good in non-veg preparations.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken drumsticks(leg)-6 pieces
  • Chilly powder-3 tspoon
  • Turmeric powder-1&1/2 tspoon
  • Ginger garlic paste-2 tspoon
  • Yogurt-3 tbl spoon
  • Lemon juice-1 tspoon
  • Pepper powder-2 tspoon
  • Garam masala-1 tspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil-2 tspoon
  • Tandoori masala(optional)-2 tspoon

Preparation:

(1)Clean chicken drumsticks.Using sharp knife make vertical and horizontal cuts along the flesh of chicken which helps the marinated contents to penetrate inside.

(2)In a bowl mix chilly powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, yogurt, lemon juice, pepper powder, garam masala, salt, oil and tandoori masala.Make a fine paste. Now masala for tandoori chicken is ready.Using hand thoroughly coat the masala into chicken.Make sure to coat it along all cuts in the flesh.Place the coated pieces in a foil paper.Cover and leave it for marination in refrigerator for about 8 hrs.

(3)Remove the chicken from refrigerator for atleast 15 mints before cooking. Chicken can be either grilled or roasted.Grilled method requires a char coal grill. Here roasting method is followed. For that preheat the oven to 400 degrees.Take out the grill from oven.Place the marinated chicken pieces over the grill along with the foil paper.

(5)Once the oven is preheated keep the grill and cook the pieces for 20 minutes.Turn over the pieces and again cook for another 20 minutes.Broil it for  last 5 minutes.

Now the drumsticks are cooked well and crispy tandoori chicken is ready:)

Tips:

  • After placing chicken in oven check in periodic intervals to make sure if chicken is cooked well.
